This edition of the Red Book is dedicated to Caroline Breese Hall, MD, FAAP, who served the Committee on Infectious Diseases (COID) as member and chairman (her preferred term) from 1984–1995 and was associate editor of the Red Book for the 1986, 1988, and 1997 editions.
