Clostridial Infections, Clostridium difficile. This is an impression smear photomicrograph of Clostridium difficile bacteria grown on cycloserine mannitol blood agar. C difficile, an anaerobic gram-positive rod, is the most frequently identified cause of Antibiotic-Associated Diarrhea. It accounts for approximately 15-25% of all episodes of Antibiotic-Associated Colitis.
