Human Calicivirus Infections (Norovirus and Sapovirus)

Human Calicivirus Infections (Norovirus and Sapovirus). Calicivirus from clinical specimens and after cryoelectron image reconstruction. This is a Sapporo-like calicivirus in a stool specimen from a patient with acute gastroenteritis, visualized by negative contrast staining and transmission electron microscopy. Sapporo-like caliciviruses are typical caliciviruses because they manifest as a a particle with 10 surface spikes (top left particle) or a "Star of David" (bottom left particle), depending on the particle orientation, as do many animal caliciviruses.
