Hemorrhagic Fevers Caused By Arenaviruses. This photomicrograph shows hepatitis caused by the Lassa virus, using toluidine-blue azure II stain. The Lassa virus, which can cause altered liver morphology with hemorrhagic necrosis and inflammation, is a member of the family Arenaviridae, and is a single-stranded RNA, zoonotic, or animal-borne pathogen.
